Back It Up!

Hello all, I want to share a little something that many have been through and I hope others never have to deal with! I’ve had a rough couple of weeks … Technology wise.  A couple of weeks ago I was going about my life you know gearing up for the release of my debut novel NUMBERS in February and setting the schedule to film the final scenes of part 4 of the dramatic 6 part mini series “Da Stuy” (www.ghettoeyezpub.com – open FILM link to view trailers) written and directed by Joseph C. Grant Jr. which I am the producer … when my computer crashed.  That alone would be nothing.  I’d just call up Microsoft and get them to walk me through the steps to get my PC back up and running.  No problem.  Unfortunately the night my PC went black I had no time to call Microsoft.  I would just have to take care of it the next day after the filming and all the other things I needed to do.

I woke early the next morning bright eyed and bushy tailed ready to take on the day.  Being a small production company it is one of my duties to call all the cast/crew and make sure they are on set and ready to go.  I jump in my ride and not obeying the no handheld device law attempted to call the necessary people only to find out that my phone screen went blank. Nothing! No contacts, Nothing! I don’t know how I was able to do it, but somehow I was able to get in contact with the cast and crew and we pulled off the shoot.

Later that day I went to the Sprint office to have them check out my phone. After leaving my phone with the tech for an hour they informed me they would have to replace it (my second replacement phone).   Dang! I was starting to get worried now.

1.       Because all my phone contacts were backed on my PC and

2.       You guessed it my PC was on the blink

This is when things started getting ugly.  First, I couldn’t find the Microsoft operating disk for a week (Microsoft will not lift a finger to assist without that product key).  Then it took me forever to transfer all my files to my back up external hard drive. And I didn’t transfer every file, because evidently some files were corrupted. Now I have my PC up and running, found all my files except for … yep … my phone contacts.

Now it’s been two weeks and I am unable to locate the operating disk for my Treo. I’m a mess! And even after I upload the phone operating disk there is no guarantee that I will get my contacts back.  I’m not sure if I even backed up that particular file.

As of Christmas day I have yet to retrieve all of my phone contacts.  I am blessed that many of my friends, Family members and associates reached out to wish me a Happy Holiday so I am slowly, but surely getting back on track. Hopefully once I am able to get the operating disk I will be able to get the contacts that I’ve compiled for the last 10 years or more back. Please send out a little prayer to me! LOL!

I wrote all of that to say this … BACK UP YOUR FILES! Not just to another computer or external hard drive, but if possible to a hard copy! That’s right good old paper! I know I will for now on!

Happy Holiday and Blessed New Year!

No More Backspin

November 20, 2008

normalize_jpeg1Good day All …

As my Backspiner’s have recognized Backspin 43 has been cancelled.  Yes the entire channel is no more!  I myself am sad to see it go like many of the listeners, but as they say all good things must come to an end someday.  Hopefully they will bring back a classic Hip Hop channel to Sirius XM in the near future.

Although I am sadden by it’s departure, I must admit that I am blessed to have had the opportunity to be a part such a great program and even greater listeners/subscribers for six and half years!  The experience has given me the chance to hone my communication skills and reach so many of my supporters and fans. Those who are truly disappointed about the cancellation of the channel should voice your complaints @ Sirius.com to the customer service.

As for me, stay tuned the Great One is far from finished!  I have many things in the works!  The first of which is a book.  On February 24th 2009 I will be releasing my debut novel Nikki Turner presents Numbers a Novel by DANA DANE through One World Random House. I think it’s great story and very entertaining, it’s a fiction if your wondering.

Please come back and visit my website periodically, matter fact I’ll send you all an e-mail as a reminder.

Thank you all for your support!  Get at you soon!

Getting it together

October 6, 2008

What’s up My people!

Welcome to Dana Dane.Com.  This is my first attempt at blogging, so bare with me.  Once I get it together I will be able to post my future events so on and so forth, but as for now I’m going to keep it simple.

As you can see the site is still under construction.  In the coming days I will add more pictures to the gallery so be patient.

The official launch of the Dana Dane store is several weeks off, but I will hit you off with show dates and tidbits so can stay a breast of my activities.

Please hit me up with an e-mail on my contact page so I can add you to my mailing list.   That’s it for now. Thanks for stopping by Blessings!
